Re: R.O.V. Research and Development New Design For Thrusters

To attach the arm to each of the round wheels that will drive the prop, you can drill a hole in each wheel and put a bearing in it. This will keep things smooth running. Here is an example: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/R1B-Pack-of-10-8-mm-LM8UU-Linear-Motion-Bush-Bushing-Ball-Bear-Bearing-LM-Series...

Want Another Freebie? Let's Talk Buoyancy

In trying to help those who are trying to build ROV's at home, I have come up with another freebie that will be available soon. I will try to post it on here towards the end of May, but you can follow me on my blog which is where I will post it first. All of the freebies I am giving away is my way o...

Re: R.O.V. Research and Development New Design For Thrusters

The bellows will have a polyurethane insert. Anything can work, but, it seems poly would be best. Other items that can be used include plastic, metal, etc.

The thruster design can be downloaded in PDF format from my blog at: http://reconnaissanceblog.wordpress.com/
I will also try to attach it here, but if it doesn't work, go to my blog.

Re: R.O.V. Research and Development New Design For Thrusters

Well, I just got off the phone with a patenting attorney located in Knoxville, TN, and it will cost me anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 to patent a new ROV Thruster and I will have to wait a while to have it reviewed by the patenting office. So I guess I will begin manufacturing and selling them to t...

R.O.V. Research and Development New Design For Thrusters

I am the owner of R.O.V. Research, Design, and Development. One of the biggest problems I have heard and seen have been how to keep the shaft of motor sealed and away from water. Well, the design is completed and is now in the testing stages that will accomplish this with very little changes in desi...

Re: Underwater or Above water??

I am trying to steer clear of the oil. The areas that are using compressed air are definitely smaller, so the weight will offset. I have a pump that will be clearing silt from in front of the tracks and expelling it out the back. The tracks are going to be about 4 to 6 inches in width. I will be usi...

Re: Underwater or Above water??

I didn't plan for it to go very deep for what I need it for. But I guess that because I am casting the housing myself and can control the thickness of the hull, I can pressurize the gear box with compressed air up to 3,000 psi. I could put the battery on the topside with me with the control board an...

Re: Underwater or Above water??

Billrose, Thank you for your input. It will be very useful for me especially with money being tight. You might see something during the build that I don't. I am going to put the build on you tube in stages and hopefully it will move quickly. Right now I am in the process of getting two window contro...
