Towed Inspection ROV for the Black Sea
We are working on an ROV that will be towed 100 meters behind a side side sonar array. 90% of the time it will do nothing, but when a target is identified the surface ship will stop and the ROV will be powered up and fly over to the target for a visual inspection. Here is a web page that is kept cur...

Re: Help with Cree LED 12v Power Supply
Thanks, we figured it out. The question we were trying to ask is how to we supply power to these LED's and the answer is a constant current LED driver. A friend pointed us to eBay where there are several Cree LED arrays complete with 12v DC input drivers available. We have picked the 100 watt units ...

Re: Protecting a sonar circuit board at 3000 ft.
Depending on what's on the PCB you may be able to make it pressure tolerant, put it in a thin walled oil filled box, compensate it and away you go .... Martin That certainly is an attractive solution. How do you determine if the various components can survive routine service at 1700 psi? These boar...

Protecting a sonar circuit board at 3000 ft.
Hello We have been racking our brains about one circuit board for a Lowrance sonar that we want to take to 3000 ft but which is too big for the hull of the ROV. Below are several Ideas and we welcome insight or other alternatives. A complete narrative about the sonar is here: http://www.submarineboa...

Help with Cree LED 12v Power Supply
How do we power 4 - High Power LEDs - White Warm White, 3000K 2932lm, 800mA, 80CRI - from 11-13v Lipos? Choose it for the size, lums, CRI, and Lum/Watt ratio. It will be easy to build a watertight housing for each like a small flash light (torch) so that the reflector cone and angle of the light can...

3000 ft into the Black Sea or Bust
We have a ride on a research vessel, now we just need the ROV. We will be stealing ideas and asking questions so please give us an hand. The basic design is for a streamlined mini ROV that is towed 300 ft behind a sonar array at 2700 ft. When a sonar target is found the ship will stop and the ROV wi...
