New TomTom HD underwater camera

TomTom claims 50m underwater capability with lens seal so perhaps the extended warranty would be the go. Specs are good. 1080/60fps I was thinking about it as a stand alone option. If the camera is self sufficient from a HD recording prospective then only small FPV camera is required to drive ROV. W...

Re: I'm jumping in!

I think the larger ones are about $300 in Australia, much cheaper elsewhere They are available online, smaller options too http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/FIST-generic-closure-organizer_60273203407.html?spm=a2700.7724838.35.11.sLkkpV oval option http://www.fiberstore.com/-p-22535.html?currency...

Re: I'm jumping in!

they are very solid. I would be surprised if any beefing up would be required for normal hobby ROV use

Re: I'm jumping in!

I had a look at the water filter container but not big enough for my batteries. These are very robust and come with a tray. Very thick ABS plastic and a clamp system that goes around cap/oring area. https://ukrcomline.com.ua/prod/fist-opticheskie-mufty-FIST-GCO2/ They come in 4 different sizes and c...

Re: I'm jumping in!

good to know. I suggested laminating resin as it is a 2 part and is thinner so better chance of getting into fill everything. When you heat it up it goes like water. I was thinking about the water housing. If the cap is mounted and plumbed up access will be via the tube part so is the plan to make a...

Re: I'm jumping in!

I think I will also paint all the wires with liquid electrical tape and then heat shrink the whole lot from base of barb and 10 cm of wires. It seems silicon shielded wire is the hardest to glue, seal properly. Sil-poxy works well but have not tried bonding with brass. Will rough up the surface firs...

Re: I'm jumping in!

Good idea to use the water filter housing. I am using a cut down dive tank as the main housing. It will have a 3/4" BSPT barb screwed in with all comms and thruster wiring going through. Was going to use laminating resin through barb around wires for water proofing. What is your plan for plumbi...

Re: Bilge pump prop match?

bottom line is don't exceed 5-6amps
40-45mm prop, less pitch the better on 12volts
these bilge motors are just a low wind 540 size with little torque or cooling

Re: New Thrusters for Cheap!!

I think they very good value for money. Proper test in open water area and shroud in place. Good for doing weedy areas. The shroud is pretty chunky so there would be some loss The motor housing seems to be sealed pretty well. I will give it a coat of liquid rubber and do a 10m test. 10v, 1260g @ 7,6...
