Re: battery question

This is a more expensive one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-2Amp-Xtend-Charger-and-Tender-for-12V-7-5AH-Sealed-Lead-Acid-SLA-Battery-/271268106739?pt=Battery_Chargers&hash=item3f28d6d1f3 You can easily get them cheaper from china if you don't mind waiting about a month for them to come. Like this ...

Re: battery question

You could easily get a few of these batteries and wire them up in parallel for a pretty long run time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sealed-Lead-Acid-battery-for-GP1272-F2-GP-1272-BATTERY-12V-7-2AH-/121188434887?pt=US_Rechargeable_Batteries&hash=item1c3764c3c7 I have used the 7.2aH lead acid batteries...

Re: Tether disconnect ideas?

On the datasheet for the 400 it says that the contacts are sold separately. What does this mean? How to do you actually connect a wire to the plug?

Haha thanks! Ya think I would be able to get a sample from them?

Tether disconnect ideas?

Does anyone know of a connector/coupler for a cat5 cable? I'm trying to make my cable detach from the ROV instead of cementing a 100' cable to it. It could be like a cable to cable connection, or it could be cable to ROV hull connection. It would preferably be less than 20$.

I'm sure there are formulas that can be used, however they are very complex fluid dynamics calculations. They are waaay above me right now.

Re: DC current safety question

You shouldn't run into many problems of your voltage is only 12v. You may damage the battery of it is submerged, but the electricity shouldn't be an issue. Also, I'm guessing it's a lead acid battery, so I'll also add that it may leak acid into the water if you get it wet.

I'm not sure how well a gps signal will travel through water. However, I have also recently gotten into multirotors so i'm very interested.

Re: Optimum thruster RPM?

Well all that I can help with is the brushless motors typically from hobby websites. For these, the lower the rpm, the better. Realistically, any kv rating of less than 1000 should work well. If you spin your prop too fast, the water will cavitate and you will loose thrust. Generally the lower the r...

Re: First ROV project!

Here are some more pictures of my progress. You make notice some different thruster housings. I changed them to 3" pvc for durability. Also, like a dope I broke the shaft of the motor for my vertical truster while drilling the housing. I guess I'll have to order another one. http://i.imgur.com/...
