Re: New ROV - The Mimee

Just wondering if you are using functions since you said you were really new to programming. If you aren't they can really help you compartmentalize your code and make it a lot easier to read through at the same time.

Re: Irish ROV Buildlog

Firstly let me make it clear I am no expert http://www.hessmer.org/blog/2013/12/28/ibt-2-h-bridge-with-arduino/ If you look at the above link you will be able to see the code for the motor drivers to function I don't see why the PWM signals from a beaglebone black should be any different i have a b...

Re: cable sheathing

Since I've seen this I've sorta looked into knitting mills and sourcing some polypropylene twine. The only problem is that while I don't doubt that you could automate this little mill to some degree. I don't think it could really handle the job once you got up into any serious length of rope. Part o...

Re: Flooded frame or sealed?

Either is probably fine, personally I'm leaning towards flooded. Just to attempt to condense the potential points of failure in my first build from every connection in my frame down to a couple endcaps.

Re: Irish ROV Buildlog

Welcome to box of Parts club :D Great find on those H-bridges, tried finding something similar for a while but ended up giving up and going with a relay board. Will have to look into picking a few of those up. Also nice find with the UI, going to take a look at that when I get a chance, didn't know ...

Re: my ROV design....

Wow looking at that track support helps to get a feel for the potential size of that ROV and its going to be a hefty little guy. Love how the arms are designed to fold up so nicely :) I've been entertaining the idea of some kind of manipulator but the thought of trying to seal so many motors and som...

Re: Cheap camera

Looking at the manual online the adapter puts out 12VDC@200mA. So as long as you can supply a steady 12V with at least 200mA of current you should be good to go wall adapter or not. http://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/95000-95999/95914.pdf I actually have one of these laying around somewhere, I...

Re: Aquatic Invasive Weed Removal ROV

This is an impressive and difficult challenge you are undertaking :)

vegetative fragmentation seems to be the biggest concern when dealing with milfoil. Which really limit how you can approach the problem without inadvertently making it worse.

Re: New ROV design/build *JaxExplorer1*

Looking cool :) Definitely interested in seeing how the X³ handles. Also the Linear actuator is waterproof or are you modifying one and how much did the X³ and actuator(s) run if you don't mind my asking? I still have an amorphous pile of parts that may or may not work together along with a still un...

Re: ROV SONAR

Hmmm all this talk about using ultrasonic cleaner transducers makes me wonder how viable it might be to harvest the transducer out of one of those $9-20 halloween/desktop/pet foggers that uses an ultrasonic transducer. Heck some of the models they sell in the petshops come in 5+ transducer arrays. C...
