This is a sea perch rov frame I've built, once finish it will probably be used for simple fun, as well as rov pilot practice.

Hello, I to have had that dream before. I was going to call it aquafox, however since you are knew to ROV building "I am too" you should start with a sea perch rov! there easy to build, cost $60-$80, and can support a camera.

What if you used a air dredge? It works by blowing a small amount of air into a tube and the air rising creates a vacuum and therefore, suction. It would be difficult to construct but wound be less likely to harm the jellyfish. That sound doable for single jellyfish, if the R.O.V. is in a jellyfish...

I think it could be done without a problem. If you are using a cylinder that is say 4" across then a small bilge pump attached to it (perhaps running on reduced voltage) if controlled in a series of small pulses should create a gentle enough vacuum to draw the jelly in question into the cylind...

how about the acrylic cylinder having a small bilge pump attached to it so you can vacuum the jellyfish into the cylinder. I would go with a momentary button type of control on it so you can just give little pulses of vacuum to draw the jellyfish in before closing. why are you wanting to catch jell...
