Hey Ryan,
How hot do those things get? Are you gonna need a heat sink in whatever enclosure you end up using for them?

Re: MOTOR CONTROLLER FOR BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR
There is no difference between an R/C signal and an analog input. An R/C controller IS an analog joystick that sends PWM signals to your ESC. You're going to need either an arduino, a servo tester, an R/C transmitter, or some other method of providing PWM input to your ESC.

Re: Arduino: RS485 full-duplex using MAX488
Thanks, that was really helpful.
In terms of the MAX488 IC itself, can I put that on a breadboard/prototyping PCB with the aforementioned 120 ohm resistors, or would I have to do something else with it?
Thanks again!

Re: Arduino: RS485 full-duplex using MAX488
Ryan, this is awesome. Thanks for putting in the legwork and turning it into an easy to follow process, I really appreciate it. Where did you get your MAX488? Also, right now (if I understand this correctly), you have 5 wires going between your ROV and your control box, correct? If I wanted to foreg...

Re: First-time ROV questions
Well, I broke down and ordered an Arduino Uno. I was trying to keep things as simple as possible, but for some reason these projects have a tendency to snowball into something a little more elaborate than what I originally had in mind. I don't think the Arduino will be too complicated to figure out,...

Re: First-time ROV questions
Yeah, I figured some sort of controller would be probably be necessary, but I'm trying to avoid that unless I absolutely have to go that route. As for the joystick, I have a three-axis joystick (one pot for every axis) that I was planning on using. I was going to just solder out the pots on the serv...

First-time ROV questions
Hey all, I'm currently in the process of building my first ROV. I have absolutely NO previous knowledge of electronics, ROVs, or robotics in any way, shape or form. So far, it's been quite a challenge. I spent the last couple of months researching as much as I could, and I'm beginning to get a handl...
