Re: 3d printer would solve alot of problems
I would avoid Makerbot's, the layer thickness (print resolution) only goes down to 100 microns and the hot heads aren't as consistent as others. Ultimately, it is hot head and print resolution that will determine the how good of a print can be created. I use an Airwolf 3D XL, $1900 as a kit. Functio...

Re: My Lil Geek
I doubt the seal will hold up, but I used silicon. I put a very thin layer of silicone down first, then I put down a second wet layer down when I attached the dome. From the inside it looks like a complete seal. I also put down a seal on the outer edge. For my initial 100' test I figure it'll hold, ...

Re: My Lil Geek
Finally got the hull and dome assembled, now I'm on the electronics of all. Ikelite Hull with a 3.5" dome from cleardomes.com, $240 for this.

Re: Help with choosing a control system for my ROV
I talked to them too, they sell run off at a 10% discount. Those pieces range from 50-125' if you get the 2300 cable is $2.70/ft but thats not a neautral bouyant cable. The real price hits when you want the cable connectors and terminators. If you have them terminate and seal the connectors its an a...

Re: Help with choosing a control system for my ROV
Thats good to know.
I was looking at two tether suppliers Falmat & Outland Technologies for their specs. OT uses a mini COAX for video while Falmat just uses a TP-24awg so I figured a there has to be a way to make it work.

Re: Prop adaptor for 50mm Robbe
I'm using Rule motors as well. A 4mm threaded prop will slip onto the 1/8 Rule shaft. with a set screw on the flat spot they hold perfectly, no adapter required. The problem is that they are small props 1 7/8" is about as big as it gets. Perfect for a Rule 360 as a vertical thrusters, pointless...

Re: Help with choosing a control system for my ROV
That's not good. Would a ferrite choke help? I wanted to do basically the same thing, PPM on a twisted pair and Video via baluns on a CAT5e. Did the cross talk occur on the 900' tether or did you go back to a shorter tether? I'm starting with a 100' tether and I was thinking that perhaps that would ...

Re: Propulsion Control Method? What do you do?
I know its a wierd approach, I've seen a few videos now where I see ROV's moving about in unusualy ways. The bigger Gnom's have two vertical thrusters in a fore aft arrangment so they could affectively do both. I would agree that the stabil platform is the best way to go for most and that is my inte...
