Measuring depth

I'm looking at various ways of measuring depth. My ROV has a 3mm PVC hull containing the camera, ESCs, battery and an Arduino. I know that theoretically the air pressure remains at nominally 1 atmosphere at depth, but PVC pipes are not fully rigid and so distort a little under pressure. Does anyone ...

Re: Camera cable lenght

The biggest problem with doing it through software is that of lag. If you want high quality real-time video over ethernet you're talking serious computing power.

Re: making cat5 neutrally buoyant

I've also tried something similar, and although it made a (very( slight difference to the buoyancy, this was more than offset by the considerable drag produced by towing several meters of thick wet rope, causing the thrusters to work too hard.

Re: Greetings from the Netherlands

Wow! There's a coincidence. I also live in the Netherlands, and have been working along almost exactly the same lines for the last 10 months. I've not gone the web-control route, preferring a modified rc solution, though I do intend to live stream to the web using a raspberry pi and suitable camera ...

Re: RC transmission through tether

Ok been digging around into that Tx and RX you have. 2.4 GHZ FASST is a totaly different animal from what I have played with. I don't think it is necessary to use a 2.4 GHZ RX and in fact I do not think there is a mod or hack for the PPM input for that receiver. This is worth a try. Get any Futaba D...

Re: RC transmission through tether

I only have the manual for the TX, which does have a trainer port. The ppm signal above was taken from it. Unfortunately I can't find a manual for the RX, so any info you can find would be much appreciated
