Re: Mag coupling version 2.0 video
I see that you are coming along quite well with your experiments. Congratulations. I love it when people think outside of the box and try new things. I read some talk about bearings and I was wondering if a silicone lubricant wouldn't do the same thing and eliminate the issues of weight which might ...

Re: Proof of concept test- Mag coupler
First I have to commend you on the use of a 3D printer to make parts. Second I am very impressed with your use of the mags in your design. I am wondering however. Why? It seems that a lot of energy is lost to the design. A 1100 gmh bilge pump with a prop would have a lot of thrust. Just saying. Mayb...

Re: Anyone tried a car backup camera
Well, why not. But you still have to make sure that it is waterproof.
I used a underwater fishing camera from ebay. It was waterproof, had built in LED lighting and a tether.
Best Wishes.

I have to agree with everyone. Looks like an "A" to me. Your design has got to be one of the coolest looking on the forum. I hope your testing goes well. If so tell your professors that we are very impressed. Because to combine form and function into a successful project is not a easy thin...

Re: Has anyone tried using a HackHD?
Mine has a 100' tether and works just fine. I don't see why an additional 50' or so would make a difference. The video signal would degrade at some point....but I don't know what that distance is. I have used it by simply plugging it into my HDTV. I plan to use it; using a USB Video Capture device i...

Re: Hello from Bournemouth in the UK
I just have to say Well Done. You are inspiring me to get back to working on mine. The ROV is complete, I just need to get all of the topside stuff done. I do need to cut myself some slack. I moved all the way across the country this summer and have just started a new job, so I have been very busy a...

Re: Has anyone tried using a HackHD?
You might want to look into underwater fishing cameras on ebay. They come fully contained with LED lighting and a tether. The cost is less and you don't have to deal with making your camera waterproof. You then use a video capture to your laptop and you are off to the races.

I used model boat props from Hobby Barn and put them on bilge pumps. They were very successful.

Re: Howdy all y'all from Dallas, TX
Welcome to the forum. Steve got most of us started. He has shared a lot of great information. So have all of the other members. Just look around because there is a lot of information here. 40' diving depths are certainly achievable. You can spend a fortune, or keep it simple and inexpensive. It's up...
