Re: SEATIGER
It would have been nice if you posted the pictures on the forum, that is what this forum is for. I'm sorry. I read the forum description pinne at the top and it didn't reference photos at all, simply said "showcasing your project". Is there a better forum for my post? Also, the YouTube ac...

SEATIGER
The SEATIGER started as a group of LSU Mechanical Engineering students working on a senior project for the Subsea Tieback Foundation (STF). Each of us already had subsea experience and a passion for subsea engineering and wanted to continue to expand our knowledge, but we also wanted to spread aware...

Are you talking about running AC through the water? High voltage AC through the water is a bad idea. Try getting in the tub and throwing a hairdryer in there.

Controlling Gripper Closure
I've been trying to design a manipulator for my project, but cannot figure out how to control closing the gripper. I originally planned to use a standard DC motor and some worm gears. What would happen if I inadvertently tried to over-rotate the gripper mechanism once it was fully open or closed? If...

Re: Hello from LSU, Geaux Tigers!
Welcome to the Forum, The writers of "Build Your Own ROV and Other Wet Projects" also have a new (I'll call it "Text Book" because that's how thick it is) called "Underwater Robotics: Science, Design & Fabrication" It's a little pricey compared to the last book tho...

ROV Stability
My mechanical engineering Capstone Design team is building a self-contained ROV exhibit for use by the subsea industry. The biggest part of this exhibit will be an ROV and an accompanying tank to perform simulated ROV operations. We intend to build an improved version of the Seafox. Our biggest conc...
