Size of motor boat propellers

I notice that most people seem to be using the 50mm Robbe propellers (folks that use them). Has anybody looked at using the 60mm propellers? I'm thinking about ordering 6 for my project but don't want to waste $50 if they are oversized. I'm using the 500GPH bilge motor cartridges. What are your thou...

Re: Crazy idea.

GoPro makes a standard mount that you could use for 3D. A lot of RC guys use them to record 1080P HD or 1080P HD 3D. They can also use the video out to send video OTA for FPV view so one could easily send it up a tether. This is a perfect project for somebody with money. http://gopro.com/hd-hero-acc...

Re: Bouyancy Tank Idea

Is the any small pumps that is reversable and will not let pressure throught when its stopped? Nice idea. Like somebody else suggested, a check valve on the pump line will keep the air in. You probably need a second vent solenoid then. I've been toying with the idea of charging two buoyancy tanks w...

Re: Thruster/Dive Plane position

Interesting concept. For making decisions about CG and control stability, I would look at some of the model rocket data out there. If I recall correctly, you will want the center of gravity (CG) to be forward of the center of pressure (CP). The same should apply for your design. Putting the CP close...

Re: 2 Wire Tether? Plus camera lines...

I know that this is a fairly old thread but I thought I'd speak to limiting amperage. You do not need to limit amperage for the control circuit, the system will only draw what is required. The key is to make sure that your voltage source meets or exceeds the needed current (amperage). To protect you...

San Diego CA Newbie

Hi all. Carl in San Diego here. I've decided to try my hand at building an underwater ROV. I've made some quick decisions after reading messages here: I've decided to go with the VEX controller and was able to find a VEX transmitter & receiver for $36 online; I'm going to use bilge pump motor ca...
