Re: Magnetic couplings= next step to deeper dives for DIY RO

When and how are you planning to test the motor? Are you going to release the blueprints?

Re: Strength of PVC framing

But what about the PVC glue? As i've seen, it is only rated up to 16 atm (16 bar, 235 psi) and if i'm correct, it will not survive that kind of pressure the PVC pipes can.

Τruly, the PVC pipe is realy amazing if you think that 600 psi equals to about 400 m depth (1312 ft).

Re: Computer Fans

It seems like a normal computer fan, no fancy stuff. Not sure about the ratings but i think that is 12VDC - 0.34A (I destroyed the label while trying to open the shielded cap for the fan bearing. Fan diameter is 100mm. I tried it many times underwater (although in fresh water) and it doesn't seems t...

Re: Controlling Depth

Or, if the parts inside the ABS box allow it without problems, fill it with wax or oil (or something else that cannot being pressured).

Re: Computer Fans

I have tested computer fans as thrusters (i have a lot of them) and the results are promising: No water was found at the fan's electronic control board or in the bearings, it spins as fast as in the air (but draws more current) and had enough thrust for the fan to escape my hands and spill water all...

Re: cctv

Because the tether i use (85m of telephone wire - 2 wire pair cable) has also 300 ohms resistance in RF. In fact, any unshielded 2 wire cable pair has 300 ohms resistance. And as i see from the CCTV camera extension cables, cable run longer than 50m are always 2 wire pair (as the telephone wire).

@jason howard: I saw that footage today and i'm absolutely impressed from that depth. BTW, i'm still trying to finish my own design (awaiting props and a color camera from Ebay).

Re: cctv

I have I have a lot of baluns that are made for TV antennas (75 to 300 ohms conversion). Can i use these instead of the normal CCTV baluns?

Greetings from Greece

Hello everyone. My name is Alex. I'm new to ROV's, but i would like to join your team and learn more (theoretical and practical) about them. My current project is a ROV that can reach at least 700 ft (213m). I have acquired the first parts to built the main body and my tether wire (stranded telephon...
