Re: Battery choice

Try http://www.mcmastercarr.com the sealed Lead acid batteries 7.5 Ah are good also they have small ones. In my electronics projects I have also found that at my work the large UPS battery packs that go bad have 24 12 v batteries in the and then you find only 1 is bad so I save my company thousands ...

Re: Aluminum frame boyancy

how are you adressing the bouyancy issues? slightly negative bouyancy is good for heading to the bottom and to slow drift rate. just seeing I have been busy for awhile and catching up.

Re: Aluminum frame boyancy

I think the real problem will be the foam getting compressed and the air also. with thin walled aluminum you could experience crushing of the tubing. if you used holes and made the tubing free flooding it would work structurally. You can adress the bouyancy issues in other different ways. I don't kn...

Re: Thoughts on buoyancy tanks/pumps

Upon further review and questions about crappy drawing I am now thinking that the tank systems would be better with hydraulic piston concept. I will post a better drawing if I can make it. so to amplify, the oil pushes the piston and changes the bouyancy and displacement. as the oil is pumped from t...

Re: Thruster/Dive Plane position

I wanted to use a pair of piston tanks on either end of the pressure hull for ballast and trim with the fiberglass hull free flooding. I have your drawings for the oil based trim, but dont think I fully understand, the oil and water are in contact and you move the oil back and forth between the tri...

Re: Tether Housings

using the vacuum/ string technique is the best way to do that.

using ceiling grid string is a good idea.

putting vaseline on the paper or foam serves a dual purpose: lubrication/stronger grab by airflow.

Re: Bouyancy Tank Idea

that is how basically a submarine surfaces and dives. I can see you using an airbrush compressor but you would have to have float valves for the water level shutoff. on a submarine they surface and as soon as they have air flow from outside they charge up the internal air tanks.

Re: Thruster/Dive Plane position

5" prop is no problem try the trolling motor prop. Have you considered having a stern plane and rudder setup aft of the screw on the shroud up and down and side to side. also you can try a trim system to change attitude in three axis system. I am working on an oil based trim system. Dive planes...

Re: Was thinking of trying to connect wireless router antenn

From another post can we cross-link posts here? I'm not sure about the whole "antenna through the tether" idea. Seadragon was going to do a test with a wireless router, but I don't think he's posted the results yet. I personally don't see why it wouldn't work, but I'm not an expert, so my ...
