Re: H Bridge motor controller
Thanks for all the replies If the mosfets are logic level does that mean the the gate to source voltage is 5v? Also if the gate to source voltage is lets say 20v does that mean the mosfet needs to receive 20v in order to open? If I use another microprocessor between the arduino and the mosfets they ...

H Bridge motor controller
Hello everyone :) I been thinking about using h bridges as motor controllers. Ive been looking at some transistor based ones but read that they have much higher power loss compared to mosfets, so I'm thinking about using those instead. Problem is I don't really know much about mosfets  so I...

Filling Thrusters with oil
Hello All :) I have found some nice seals which I would like to use for my thrusters. But they are only rated down to 8m. If I fill the thruster with oil the depth rating should increase right? For the pressure compensation using oil is it enough if the thruster is just filled completely with oil or...

Question about esc amp rating
Hello All :) Im looking to get some esc's for my rov but all the ones I have seen (that are cheap  ) have different ratings in forward and reverse So im not sure if the forward and reverse amps ratings are limits or if they are also ratios as to the power which can be provided in each direc...

Re: BILGE BLOWER THRUSTERS
Hello John
Is this the 1000gph bilge pump you purchased?
http://www.harborfreight.com/1000-gph-b ... 66095.html
Its the only 1000gph i could find but its shape seems different from the rule ones so wasnt sure if this is the one you meant
Thanks

Re: Should Thrusters be waterproofed
Hey all Just tested my thrusters, they create huge amount of thrust :D One problem: at 5v they already draw 20amps each Is there anything i can do to use a higher voltage , was planning on 12v and lowering the amps somehow? (so higher voltage, low amps instead of low voltage, high amps) So rather hi...

Should Thrusters be waterproofed
Hey everyone I have 4 dc brushed motors to use as thrusters. Ive read though that it isnt necessary to waterproof dc motors for underwater use. Each motor draws about 20amps But can high current motor such as these still be used underwater without waterproofing? Since apparently 2amps could already ...

Re: Tutorial on Arduino Serial Communication
Hey all Thanks for the tutorial Hope you dont mind me asking on your thread but didnt want to create a new thread and seemed kinda appropriate here so If i use a older arduino with a real serial port(RS232) and connect a RS485 to RS232 converter to the arduino so i can connect to my pc via RS485 Wou...

Re: Onboard batteries
Hey Ill be using a arduino. Yea I think SLA or niCd/nimh would be better since they decrease buoyancy :) Lipos are probably also a not so good idea since they can catch on fire ect I already asked this in another thread but how can the pc to arduino cable be extended easily by 100ft besides using us...

Re: What Tether to get?
Thanks. :) Ill be attaching the hubs power to the main power cable Im using a pair of extenders like the ones in the link. They are rated at 150ft http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-over-CAT5-Adaptor-Cable-Extender-Booster-CAT-5-/270662429101?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f04bce9ad I think you were tal...
