Re: BOUYANCY AND OTHER IDEAS
Bob, very interested in this concept since it's in line with an idea I had for using pressurized oil. But I feel your idea of using pressurized air is better. Another advantage of it is you can pipe pressurized lines to the thrusters to greatly increase the depth of modified bilge pump thrusters. Ke...

Re: Bilge Pump Max Depth
it seems the thruster is the most pain in the A$$ part of an ROV, are there any commercially available shaft seals out there?

Re: Current work in progress.
I would tuck the thrusters more forward if you could, make the ROV more compact and it will add a level of protection.. TIm

Re: Bilge Pump Max Depth
After laying in bed thinking about how this design is too good to be true, I think I figured out why. One major potential flaw in my above mentioned design is surface area. Since PSI is Pounds per SQUARE INCH, would a smaller tube with less surface area be able to distribute enough counter force tha...

Re: Current work in progress.
PaulC, I'd leave them off. Less weight and less drag. Most ROV's I have looked at don't have protective plates and bumpers on them. Tim

Re: Bilge Pump Max Depth
I had an idea after reading up on this concept on several websites. It seams too easy to actually work, but I'll throw it out here anyways and see what you all have to say. I was thinking you could add a 90 degree pipe fitting (not sure on sizes) to the front and rear end of the bilge pump housing s...

Guy's, here's the price list from the company since their web site catalog is not working right now. Not as expensive as I thought

Simple Aluminum Tube Framing
Hey everyone, I found this web site that sells aluminum and stainless steel tubing and all kinds of accessories for joining the tubes together. They also have all kinds of attachments and I see a ton of potential in mounting options with what you can get. Looks to be almost if not just as easy as do...

Re: Determining buoyancy
I had a system I was going to use that I think will work too. This is something I want to do PRIOR to mounting buoyancy pods, and is how I'm going to figure about what size pods I'll need. I was going to take a very large trash can and put it into a kiddy pool on my level garage floor (both of which...
